arthritis joke?
Question by Kim: arthritis joke?
A drunk man who smelled like whiskey sat down on a bench in a subway
station,
next to a priest.
The man’s tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick,
and a
half empty bottle of Jim Beam was sticking out of his torn coat pocket.
He opened his newspaper and began reading. After a few minutes the man
turned
to the priest and asked, “Say Father, what causes arthritis?”
The priest replies, “My Son, it’s caused by loose living, being with
cheap
wicked women, too much alcohol, contempt for your fellow man, sleeping
around
with prostitutes, and lack of a bath.”
The drunk muttered in response, “Well, I’ll be damned,” then returned
to his
paper.
The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the man and
apologized.
“I’m very sorry. I didn’t mean to come on so strong. How long have you
had
arthritis?”
The drunk answered, “I don’t have it, Father. I was just reading here
that
the Pope does.

I was rear-ended in a car accident and hurt my shoulder. What should I expect from insurance settlement?
Question by Doc Rogers: I was rear-ended in a car accident and hurt my shoulder. What should I expect from insurance settlement?
I went to the ER on my own about two hours after the accident. The police report showed I was injuered but refused ambulance transportation. X-rays were negative. I had an MRI on my neck and shoulder. It was revealed I had “longstanding arthritis” but I had never experienced pain like this before and this was the initial diagnosis for it. I was sent to Physical Therapy. I am getting better now but have about 10 more therapy sessions before the insurance will do anything. The person who hit me was uninsured and has no license. I have unisured motorist protection up to $ 25,000. Right now my bills total about $ 6000. What can I expect to settle on with the insurance? Is there a formula for this? Does anyone have any tips on how to handle this?

Answer by Mushu
There isn’t really a formula per se, but you should know that continuing therapy isn’t going to be cheap, and if you blow through those UM-BI limits, you may end up paying for some of the medical care out of pocket. If you do, you will need to pursue the other party personally for the remainder, and for pain and suffering. It will be easy to sue them, but not so easy to actually collect anything. Best advice – keep in contact with your claims adjuster. He/she is your best source of information.
